If you want to catch Logan County with its whole self out, pick one of two weekends.
The first is Sugar Beet Days, held on the historic Logan County Courthouse Square in downtown Sterling. The festival started in 1981 as a tribute to the beet-farming heritage that shaped this county, and it lands on the third weekend of September. The organizers describe more than 200 food and craft vendors and two full days of entertainment, which is a lot to wander through on the lawns and shaded streets around the courthouse. It’s the kind of gathering where you can eat your way down a row of booths, listen to a band, and run into half the county doing the same.
The second is the Logan County Fair and Rodeo, held in the summer at the county fairgrounds at 1120 Pawnee Avenue in Sterling. This is the working-county fair: 4-H and FFA kids showing the animals they’ve raised all year, a rodeo, a parade, a carnival, and a concert. It’s where ranch families, town folks, and out-of-towners share the same bleachers for a week.
Dates and lineups shift a little year to year, so confirm before you drive. Start with the Sugar Beet Days about page and the county fairgrounds site for current details.
